Paithani : A journey through tradition and culture

Paithani is a saree , named after the Paithani town in Aurangabad district from state of Maharashtra in India where the Sari was first made by hand. Present day Yeola town in Nashik, Maharashtra is the largest Manufacturer of Paithani .

A Paithani is gold and silk saree .A influence of the Buddhist painting can be seen on the woven saree like- Lotus, peacocks, Hans , Pheasant , Amar vell , Motifs.
But, then how to recognize original saree ? The front and the back of the saree are same , there are no extra threads behind it .
Especially, the Peacock which was dancing on the Padar ( end of the saree ) , Now began to soar the sky .

The world's favourite airline now wearing a saree and Meera Mehta is helping them . A saree from Paithan on the tails of their planes.
This saree is little bit expensive because it takes a lot of time to weave by hand. But, weaving this saree is also an art .Preserving &  keeping it alive is our job.
